Looking Back, Week 12, Project Task

Image made by me Kelly Hughes Hi and welcome back to my blog, This week I am going to be looking back on the group project. The project had been going okay at the start. I asked my group mates to send me some videos of them reading the script, no one got back so I made my own video just in case they were not able to. I uploaded it to YouTube to see if it worked, and it did so that was great the only issue I had was some edit issues with sound which I plan on fixing and re-uploading. I feel the overall project was a bit messy because we had planned to meet up a few times, but every time I went to meet them, they wouldn’t be in, and sometimes no message to explain why.  I had no videos to make the project which resulted that I made a video for the group, I asked the group again if th...

Postproduction, Week 10, Project Blog

Free pixabay image Postproduction Hi and welcome back to my blog, This week I am going to talk about how my group project has been going for Online Shaming & Cancel Culture video project. The project has been going okay, Jenny and I from my group started to record this week as the other girls were out sick. The group had made plans three times to meet up over this month, but the girls had to cancel it over being out sick. I have been continuing to create my animation and adding the voice-over to it. I have also started to create the credits for the video, and I made three graphics for the video. I created a file of images of celebrities with references. I went to Jennifer’s house, and I recorded her reading the script and I recorded myself reading the script also. Jennifer and I plan to record some more before submission. Before submission, there is still a good bit we need to get done. I would liken to have the recordings done and would like to start to edit beca...

Reading Task, Week 10

free pixabay photo Hi welcome back to my blog. Today I will talk about how the peer review and the rewriting experience has gone over the semester. I have learned from the peer review task that I should add a bibliography at the end of every blog and add in text citations. I also need to start talking about the experience I have on the topic and how I feel about the topic which I have started to do in my recent blogs and plan to change on my previous blogs. I feel that my writing and reading skills have improved since my first feedback and even more since I got more feedback from other peers. I have received some great feedback overall to help me improve my blogs and know where I can make content easier and more enjoyable to read. Concise writing goal is to use the most effective words. To use the stronger words not always fewer. To get to the main point of the topic. (Arts, 2021) Too wordy sentences such as “It is the governor who signs or vetoes bills. – 9 words. Concise sent...

Rewrite #3, Week 10

Free pixabay photo Rewrite #3 Link to Original Blog : Week 5, Video Task To me design thinking is a philosophy and a set of tools to help you solve problems creatively. It is also a production process that helps you to organise effectively. It can be loosely divided into three stages these are Pre-production, Production and Post-production. In the YouTube video by Aj & Smart by Johnathan Courtney CEO at AJ & Smart, he shared that if you’re going to be working with anything got to do with design thinking, it is innovation taking the philosophy of design thinking and learning using something like the design sprint as a recipe to run design thinking. I think digital media products that could apply design thinking to would be, films, documentaries, podcasts, vlogs   (Jonathan, 2020) . The three stages of Production are first Pre-production, this is where you would write dialog, find the cast and crew, find out locations, look for props or costumes, think about the ...

Media Representation, Week 10, Video Task

Photo by Markus Spiske from Pexels Media Representation This week I am going to examine the ethics of media and the potential implications for society, I’ll be looking particularly at representation in media and how media deals with representation of different sexualities, ethnicities, cultures, nations and religions. Media texts and popular culture can be very influential in the way that people understand other peoples cultures through media they may not otherwise be familiar with.   Representation of gender, ages, sexualities, ethnicities, cultures, nations, and religion. When the media start to create a world where some of these don’t exist such as no big body people, that is creating a lie, therefore representation is vital to make all people belong together, no race or religion can define you as a person so you shouldn’t let the media portray you or your culture or gender as one. Stereotypes that have been used repeatedly over the years that causes a lack of diversity in r...

Another Revision, Week 9, Reading Task

pixabay photo Hi welcome back to my blog, The blogs I reviewed were  Ryan's Blog  for the week 3 reading task and  Milo's Blog  for the week 6 video task. I think they both did a great job on their blogs, I could just give them suggestions to add the source from where they got their opinion.  I learned from the comments on my blog that I have to start implying my experiences and feelings on the subject from Finn and that I should also add a conclusion paragraph to wrap it all up from Chloe. I also learned from Adam that he liked how I sourced the information on my blog and the way I lay it out. When I did the revise on my blog I implied the feedback which helped me a lot to know what I should be doing. Finn also gave me two good questions to help me make my blog clearer. They were “what’s the difference between Ethics and Morals” so I changed the paragraph to make it clearer on my revised blog. He also asked me “if I had any other examples of dark patterns ...

Rewrite #2, Week 9

pixabay photo Hello , welcome back to my blog this week I will talk about what Ethics provides, Dark Patterns and Propaganda. Ethics provide a framework for understanding and interpreting right and wrong in society.  Ethics are the set of moral principles that guides that person’s behaviour. These morals are shaped by social norms, cultural practices, and religious influences. Ethics reflect beliefs about what is right, what is wrong, what is just, what is unjust, what is good, and what is bad in terms of human behaviour. They are used as a compass to direct how people should behave toward each other and to understand and fulfil their obligations to society and live their lives. Ethics Defined I think the difference between Ethics and Morals is that Ethics leans towards an individual person’s decision of right and wrong whereas Morals emphasises the widely shared societal norms of right and wrong. pixabay photo How dark patterns trick you online Dark patterns are features of in...
